PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche women's basketball (21-2, 16-1) extended their win-streak to nine games in a 60-45 win over Pitt-Greensburg (11-13, 9-8) on Wednesday night in conference play.
The Lady Redhawks brought their A-game defensively forcing 22 turnovers and grabbing 22 offensive rebounds.
"Our offense wasn't where we wanted it to be today," said Casie Cygan. We played well defensively and it's where it's needs to be over the final stretch of the season."
Cygan led La Roche with 13 points on 5 of 8 from the field and Amanda Garland added 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals. LaShauna Brothers finished with 9 points and 6 steals and Jessica Pitts chipped in 8 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists. Leslie McPherson and Shataya White each netted 7 points in the win.
The Lady Redhawks outrebounded Pitt-Greensburg 38-31 and outscored them on turnovers 19-8. They also shot 70% (19 of 27) from the charity stripe.
"We're getting ready for the final push of the season and that's ultimately what we've been working for all year," said Leslie McPherson.
La Roche women's basketball will travel to Hilbert on Saturday before hosting a tournament semifinal game next Friday at 8:00PM.
