Four members of the La Roche women's basketball team were honored today by the AMCC for their tremendous 2013 seasons.
Jessica Pitts was named the AMCC Player of the Year, the Defensive Player of the Year, and to the All-Conference First Team for the second consecutive season. She led the conference in rebounding, field goal percentage, assists, steals, assist to turnover ratio, and defensive rebounds. She also ranked seventh in the AMCC in points and recorded the school's first-ever triple double. Jessica registered her 1000th career point in a win over Pitt-Bradford on February 2 and was selected AMCC Player of the Week four times this season.
Casie Cygan garnered an All-Conference First Team selection after leading the AMCC Conference in scoring and finishing in the top 15 in field goal percentage, assists, free throw percentage, steals, 3-point percentage, 3-pointers made, and minutes played. Casie was an All-Conference Third Team performer last year and scored her 1000th career point in a win over Franciscan on February 6.
Amanda Garland was selected as an All-Conference Third Team honoree. Garland finished third on the Lady Redhawks in points and 16th in the AMCC. She was one of the best defenders in the AMCC and finished second overall in blocked shots and third in steals. This is Amanda's first all-conference selection.
Kamela Gissendanner was named the AMCC's Co-Coach of the Year after guiding the Redhawks to a third consecutive conference championship and a bid into the NCAA Tournament. Coach Gissendanner led La Roche to their best regular season ever, finishing with a school-record 24 wins and a 17-1 mark against conference teams.
