PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche women's basketball (13-3, 8-1) extended their win streak to four games with an 83-71 victory over Pitt-Greensburg (7-8, 4-4) on Monday night on campus.
Shataya White drained a three pointer right before the buzzer as La Roche took a 38-28 lead into halftime. The Lady Redhawsk trailed by as many as five points in the first half but used a 15-3 run to take control of the game. White paced La Roche with 10 points while Danasha Harris added 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Pitt-Greensburg got within six points with less than a minute to play but La Roche made their free throws down the stretch to hold on.
Five Lady Redhawks scored in double figures including White and Leslie McPherson who each recorded 15 points. LaShauna Brothers registered 12 points and 5 rebounds while Mackenzie O'Donnell finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and 9 boards. Casie Cygan contributed 11 points and Harris added 7 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
La Roche continued to shoot the basketball well and converted 54% (28 for 52) from the field and 67% (4 for 6) from beyond the arc. They outrebounded the visiting Bobcats 39-25 and assisted on 20 of 28 field goals. The Lady Redhawks also held Pitt-Greensburg to just 32% (18 for 56) from the floor.
The women's basketball team will head to D'Youville College on Saturday to take on the Spartans. D'Youville is coming off a 66-56 loss to Penn State Altoona.
