ERIE, PA – La Roche women's basketball (19-4, 14-2) cruised to a 72-46 victory over Penn State Behrend (3-19, 2-14) to sweep the season series and keep pace with Medaille on top of the conference standings. The Lady Redhawks are tied with Medaille for first place in the AMCC with two games left.
La Roche ended the half on a 10-0 run to break open a close game and take a 36-20 advantage into intermission. Demetria Coleman contributed 4 points and 4 rebounds during the run and the Lady Redhawks held Penn State Behrend scoreless over the final 4:36 of the first half.
La Roche used another 10-0 run halfway through the second half to cruise to the twenty-six point victory. The host Lions scored just one field goal in the final four minutes of the ballgame.
Casie Cygan scored a game-high 19 points (8 of 15) while Shataya White added 12 points (5 of 10) and 3 assists. Demetria Coleman registered 10 points and 8 rebounds and Danasha Harris netted 10 points on 5 of 6 shooting.
La Roche took almost twice as many shots as Penn State Behrend (70-37) and converted 46% from the field. The Lady Redhawks also forced 29 Lions turnovers and outscored them by forty-two points in the paint.
Women's hoops will travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night for an important conference game. The Bobcats enter the contest in fourth place in the AMCC and winners of seven straight.
