GREENSBURG, PA – The Lady Redhawks (20-4, 15-2) used a strong second half to defeat Pitt-Greensburg (14-10, 11-6) 75-67 in a tough AMCC Conference road game on Wednesday night.
La Roche entered the half with a slim 33-31 lead. Lashauna Brothers had a big first half with 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks and Danasha Harris added 8 points, 5, rebounds, and 3 steals.
Pitt-Greensburg came out of the locker room on a 12-5 run but the Lady Redhawks played tough defense to keep it close and responded with an 11-0 run to take control of the game. The Bobcats cut the lead to single digits in the final minute but Casie Cygan scored five points in the final fifteen seconds to preserve the win.
Cygan finished with 15 points to become the second women's basketball player to reach 1500 career points. Harris and Brothers both had strong games with 14 points and 8 rebounds each while Mackenzie O'Donnell scored 11 points. Shataya White had 5 assists and 5 rebounds in the win.
The Lady Redhawks shot 47% (29 of 62) from the field and assisted on 15 of 29 field goals. They also forced 24 Pitt-Greensburg turnovers.
Women's hoops can clinch the #1 seed in the AMCC Tournament and their fourth consecutive AMCC Regular Season title with a win over Hilbert on Saturday.
