PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team opened AMCC Conference play on Wednesday night with a 72-54 win over Penn State Altoona. The victory is their eighth straight against conference competition.
The Lady Lion's Moira Corrigan finished the first half with 16 points and 10 rebounds as both teams entered the lockerroom tied at 32-32. McKenzie O'Donnell led the Lady Redhawks with 13 first half points while Sabrina McLin and Demetria Coleman added 3 steals apiece.
La Roche came out on fire in the second half shooting over 50% from the floor. They forced 19 Altoona turnovers and scored twenty points off of turnovers.
O'Donnell finished with a team-high 21 points to go along with 8 boards. LaShauna Brothers produced a season-high 20 points and 9 rebounds while Danasha Harris added 10 points, 7 steals, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Shataya White had 9 points, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds in the win.
The Lady Redhawks outscored the visitors 58-30 in the paint and 28-0 on the fast break. They made 31 of 64 shots (48.4%) and outrebounded the Lady Lions by five.
The women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday when they host Penn State Behrend. Tip-off is 2PM.
