PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team picked up an important conference win defeating Medaille 85-68 on Sunday afternoon.
Sabrina McLina (14 points) and LaShauna Brothers (11 points) each scored in double figures and Demetria Coleman pulled down 6 rebounds as La Roche hit intermission with a 37-30 lead. The Redhawks and Medaille were even in almost every statistical category including rebounds, assists, and steals.
Medaille opened the second half on a 7-0 run to tie it but La Roche responded with a 12-2 run and broke things open. Gloria Schifino sparked the run with a three in the corner while Brothers and Danasha Harris provided steals.
Brothers finished with a career-high 27 points and went 11 for 12 from the free throw line. McLin had 22 points for her sixth 20+ point output of the season while Schifino (13 points) and Harris (10 points) both reached double figures. Schifino also produced a career-high 9 assists and Coleman finished with 9 rebounds.
The Lady Redhawks conclude the homestand on Wednesday when they host Pitt-Greensburg. The Bobcats sit in third place in the AMCC and have won four straight games.
