BRADFORD, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team opened the second half on a 10-0 run to overcome a four point halftime deficit and defeat Pitt-Bradford 71-63. The Lady Redhawks' victory gives them a two game cushion atop the AMCC Conference standings.
The game was a story of two halves. Pitt-Bradford was extremely efficient in the opening twenty minutes hitting 61% of their shots to carry a 32-28 lead into halftime.
The Lady Redhawks responded with tough defense to take control of the game in the second half. La Roche held the Panthers without a field goal for the first eight minutes of the second half and forced an uncharacteristic six Pitt-Bradford turnovers during the 10-0 run. La Roche shot 56% in the second half and Mackenzie O'Donnell provided 14 points.
Sabrina McLin led the Lady Redhawks with 21 points while O'Donnell added 16 points and 7 rebounds. Seniors Shataya White (14 points, 6 rebounds) and LaShauna Brothers (10 points, 10 rebounds) were key in the La Roche comeback and Danasha Harris contributed 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
The Lady Redhawks shot 47% on the game and 46% from three-point range. They outrebounded Pitt-Bradford 40-29 and outscored them in the paint 44-32.
Women's Hoops will host Franciscan University on Monday at 6PM. The Barons are 4-4 in conference and coming off a 67-55 victory over Medaille.
