PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team shot just under 50% from the field as they cruised in an 85-52 win over Franciscan University on Monday night. With the victory, the Lady Redhawks reach the conference's halfway point with a perfect record.
La Roche overcame a slow start to enter halftime ahead 42-25. Mackenzie O'Donnell paced the Lady Redhawks with 15 points and 7 rebounds while Sabrina McLin added 14 points and a pair of three-pointers.
The Lady Redhawks found their stride in the second half using a 13-2 run to take control of the contest. They held a very good shooting Franciscan team to just 33% from the field in the second half and forced an uncharacteristic twelve Baron turnovers.
McLin had another strong game scoring 26 points and hitting 5 three-pointers. O'Donnell fell just a rebound short of a double-double with 21 points and 9 rebounds while Shataya White had 13 points and 8 assists. Danasha Harris finished with 7 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.
The Lady Redhawks shot 49% (36 of 73) from the field and hit 6 of 17 three-pointers. They also outrebounded Franciscan 41-28 and forced twenty-four Baron turnovers.
The women's basketball team will travel to Penn State Altoona on Thursday to take on the Lions. The Lady Redhawks beat Altoona 72-54 on December 3.
