Women's Hoops Defeats Penn State Altoona, Earns Sixth Straight Victory

ALTOONA, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team won their sixth straight game and improved to 10-0 in the AMCC with a 78-60 victory over Penn State Altoona on Thursday night.

Altoona led for a majority of the first half but La Roche went on an 8-1 run late in the half to take a 38-35 lead into intermission. Sabrina McLin and Shataya White helped the Lady Redhawks get back into it with three-pointers and La Roche forced six turnovers over the course of the run.

The Lions kept it close early in the second half before a 10-0 run put the game away. Mackenzie O'Donnell scored 16 second half points and the Lady Redhawks held Altoona to just 22% from the floor.

White had an outstanding game finishing with 15 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. O'Donnell had her highest point total of the season with 24 points while McLin had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Danasha Harris and LaShauna Brothers each had 5 rebounds and 4 steals in the win.

Altoona made just 35% of their field goals and 21% of their three-point attempts. La Roche also forced twenty-four Lion's turnovers turning them into twenty-eight points.

The Lady Redhawks return to the floor on Saturday against Penn State Behrend. Behrend has won three straight and are coming off a 65-49 victory over D'Youville.
