ERIE, PA – The Lady Redhawks extended their win-streak to seven games while at the same time ending Penn State Behrend's three game win-streak with Saturday's 66-54 victory.
La Roche closed the first half on a 6-0 run to overcome a slow start and enter the half up 37-27. The Lady Redhawks dominated the paint and boards with Danasha Harris (11 points, 9 rebounds) and Shataya White (10 points) guiding the visitors through the first half.
La Roche went cold in the second half hitting just 21% of their shots but their double-digit halftime lead was too much for Behrend to come back. Mackenzie O'Donnell (13 points, 9 rebounds) nearly had a double-double just in the second half while Harris (7 rebounds) continued to assert herself on the boards.
Four Lady Redhawks finished in double figures including O'Donnell (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Harris (11 points, 16 rebounds) who registered double-doubles. White (15 points) recorded her fourth straight 10+ point game in a row and Sabrina McLin (13 points) had her seventh straight.
La Roche pulled down 56 rebounds for their highest total since 2010. They shot just 32% for the game but they held Behrend to just 30% and only allowed nineteen field goals.
The women's basketball team returns to the Fitness Center on Wednesday with an AMCC Conference game against Mt. Aloysius. The 2014 AMCC All-Conference Student-Athletes will be honored at Wednesday's game.
