Big Second Half Carries Lady Redhawks to Victory Over Medaille

BUFFALO, NY -- The Lady Redhawks (20-5, 17-1) used a big second half to go on the road and defeat Medaille (10-15, 9-9) 84-52 in AMCC play on Saturday. It is the third time in school history La Roche finished the regular season with just one conference loss.

The Lady Redhawks played like they were on a mission building an early 11 point lead and not allowing a field goal in the first five minutes of action. LaShauna Brothers provided the spark with 7 of the team's first 9 points and the entire squad contributed on both ends of the floor. Medaille responded with 11 straight points but La Roche fought back to take a small 35-33 advantage into intermission.

The first few minutes of the second half remained close but La Roche ended the game on an incredible 34-7 run to cruise to victory. Medaille scored just three field goals over the final fifteen minutes of play and the Mavericks hit only 7 of 31 second half shots.

Brothers finished just a rebound shy of a double-double with 22 points and 9 rebounds. The AMCC's second leading scorer, Sabrina McLin, had 17 points while Mackenzie O'Donnell added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. Danasha Harris and Gloria Schifino each had 11 points in the victory.

The Lady Redhawks earned the right to host next weekend's tournament after finishing with the best conference record. They will play next Friday at 6pm at the Kerr Fitness Center.
