PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team moved on to play in their fifth AMCC Championship game after cruising to a 102-69 victory over Penn State Altoona on Friday night. The Lady Redhawks will take on Pitt-Greensburg who eliminated Pitt-Bradford in a thrilling AMCC Semifinal Game 50-49. The Bobcats are making their first appearance in the AMCC Championship since winning the title in 2009.
The Lady Redhawks used a 20-6 run to close the half and enter intermission up 51-27. They shot a solid 52% (22 of 42) from the field while holding Altoona to just seven field goals. Danasha Harris, Sabrina McLin, and Shataya White all scored in double figures in the first half.
La Roche maintained their large lead in the second half thanks to solid team play and 13 points from McLin and 12 points from Harris.
Harris had a tremendous game finishing just two steals short of a triple-double. She went 12 for 14 with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 steals. McLin tallied 25 points and 5 assists while LaShauna Brothers added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Shataya White had a stellar game in the win with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists.
La Roche was dominant in the paint outscoring Altoona by fifty-eight and outrebounding them by twenty. They attempted almost twice as many shots hitting 43 of 86 to the Lion's 20 of 48.
