Women's Hoops Wins Battle of Unbeatens, Defeat Mt. Union 68-56

PITTSBURGH, PA –The Lady Redhawks (2-0) won the battle of undefeated teams by upending Mt. Union (3-1) 68-56 on Tuesday night at the Kerr Fitness Center. The Raiders were averaging 83 points coming into tonight's game.

La Roche opened the game on an 8-0 run and entered the half with a 38-21 lead despite being outrebounded by nine. Where they excelled was in the open court forcing sixteen Mt. Union turnovers to their seven. La Roche Athlete of the Week TaChina Mitchell led all first-half scorers with 14 points and 7 rebounds while Danasha Harris contributed 8 points and 3 steals.

Mt. Union outscored the Lady Redhawks by one in the third quarter and opened the fourth on a 10-0 run getting them within six points. Despite the Raider's efforts, La Roche hung tough down the stretch and held on for the twelve point victory.

La Roche limited Mt. Union to just 29% from the floor and 19% from three point range. They also forced the Raiders into an uncharacteristic twenty-six turnovers.

Mitchell recorded her second straight double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Sabrina McLin finished with 14 points while Harris and Mackenzie O'Donnell had 10 points apiece.

La Roche will enjoy the Thanksgiving break before heading to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday. W&J has won three straight games.
