Women's Hoops Takes Over Top Spot in AMCC After 88-61 Win Over Mt. Aloysius

PITTSBURGH, PA – The women's basketball team took over first place in the AMCC Conference with an 88-61 Wednesday night victory over Mt. Aloysius College. The Lady Redhawks have won 14 of their past 15 home games.

Mt. Aloysius put pressure on the Redhawks early taking an 11-10 lead, but La Roche closed the first quarter on a 14-0 run. Sabrina McLin scored 11 of the run's 14 points and she outscored the entire Mountie team with 15 first quarter points.  

Mt. Aloysius did not let the Redhawks pull away in the second quarter but La Roche entered the half with a 38-23 lead. A majority of their scoring came in the paint (22) and McLin had 20 first half points.

The Redhawks were incredible on the offensive end in the second half. La Roche hit 19 of 27 field goals (70%) and Mackenzie O'Donnell was nearly perfect hitting 9 of 10 second half shots. McLin dished out 7 assists over the final twenty minutes and TiChina Mitchell got in a groove with 14 points.

Three Redhawks finished with over twenty points including McLin who had an incredible game with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. O'Donnell had 23 points and hit 10 of 12 field goals while Mitchell netted 22 points.

La Roche will host D'Youville College in a Saturday conference game. Tip-off is 3PM.
