BUFFALO, NY – The La Roche women's basketball team clinched an AMCC Tournament berth after cruising to a 91-55 victory over D'Youville College on Saturday evening. La Roche improves to 12-1 in the AMCC and the win is their fifteenth in their past sixteen games.
D'Youville grabbed a 2-0 lead but that was the last time the Redhawks trailed as they ended the first quarter with a 25-11 lead. Sabrina McLin, Mackenzie O'Donnell and Danasha Harris combined for all twenty-five points with McLin pacing La Roche with 14 points.
La Roche shot 57% (13 of 23) in the second quarter while holding D'Youville to just 20% (3 of 15). A majority of the Spartan's second quarter points came on the foul line where they converted 8 of 10 shots. Despite D'Youville's hot shooting from the charity stripe, La Roche outscored them by fourteen and entered halftime with a 53-25 lead. The Redhawks were too much for D'Youville to handle in the second half and cruised to their seventeenth victory of the season.
O'Donnell had a strong game and finished with 25 points (10 of 14 fg) and 12 rebounds. McLin scored a game-high 26 points while TiChina Mitchell added 10 points and 15 rebounds. Harris finished with 16 points (8 of 9 fg), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals in the win.
La Roche outrebounded D'Youville 51-33 and forced 32 Spartan turnovers. They also outscored D'Youville by forty points in the paint.
The Redhawks will clinch a home-game in the AMCC Tournament with their next victory. La Roche will try to make that happen next Saturday when they host Hilbert College.
