BRADFORD, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team became the first team in AMCC history to win six Regular Season titles after their 86-62 win at Pitt-Bradford on Saturday. TiChina Mitchell nearly broke her own single game scoring record (40 points) with 38 points.
It looked as if the Redhawks were going to have to sweat out another close game against Bradford until an 18-0 third quarter run broke things open. The Panthers were held scoreless for over five minutes and outrebounded 8-2 over the same span.
Bradford never got closer than nineteen points following the run. The Redhawks outscored the home squad 55-35 in the second half after taking just a four point lead into halftime.
In addition to scoring 38 points (15 of 21 FG, 8 of 8 FT), TiChina Mitchell pulled down 11 rebounds to record a double-double. Mackenzie O'Donnell and (16 points) and Sabrina McLin (14 points) both reached double-figures with Danasha Harris finishing just a point short (9 points). Harris and Gloria Schifino combined for 15 assists in the win.
La Roche will try to avenge their lone conference loss of the season when they welcome Franciscan to campus on Wednesday. Franciscan held on for a 76-69 win on January 18.
