Women's Hoops Beats Medaille to Earn a School-Record 17th Conference Win

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's basketball team tied a school-record for most conference wins in a season with their seventeenth in a 99-54 win over Medaille on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks will enjoy a bye before hosting the AMCC Tournament Championship round starting next Saturday.

La Roche exploded out of the gate with 34 points in the first quarter. TiChina Mitchell led the Redhawks with 14 points while Mackenzie O'Donnell added 8 points. La Roche shot an extremely efficient 70% (14 of 20) from the field and they held Medaille to just eight attempts.

The Mavericks woke up with a decent second quarter to make it a 45-32 game at halftime. Mitchell entered the half with a game-high 19 points and La Roche forced 16 Medaille turnovers. Danasha Harris and Darrian Johnson each had 4 assists.

La Roche again reached the thirty point mark in the third quarter to up their lead to 75-43. The Redhawks forced eleven turnovers and Sabrina McLin scored 11 points. The Redhawks cruised in the fourth quarter and fell just one point shy of the century mark.

Three Redhawks finished with over twenty points including Mitchell who had a game-high 26 points. O'Donnell hit 10 of 13 field goals for 24 points and McLin hit 7 of 11 for 20 points. Johnson had 15 points and 6 assists while Harris contributed 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

La Roche shot a season-high 50 free throws and forced 36 Medaille turnovers.

The Redhawks will host the AMCC Tournament next weekend. The semifinal round is at 1pm and 3pm on Saturday followed by the championship on Sunday at 1pm.
