PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche women's soccer team won their second straight and improved to 2-0 at home after defeating Thiel College 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Thiel College scored off a rebound just four minutes into the game but the Redhawks immediately responded. Allie Perri cut through the middle and took a terrific feed from Kerri Phillis to tally her second goal of the season.
Tea Miksch buried a blast from nearly 40 yards out to put the Redhawks ahead 2-1 in the twentieth minute.
La Roche was excellent on the defensive side and limited Thiel to just 4 shots in the first half. The Redhawks dominated possession and fired thirteen shots including three that reached goal.
La Roche barely left the bench before finding their third goal just fifteen seconds into the second half. Phillis fired a shot from almost exactly the same spot as Miksch and tipped off the top of the keeper's glove.
Thiel cut the lead to just one on an own goal in the seventy-seventh minute. Two minutes later, Phillis netted her second goal and third point of the game to secure the victory.
La Roche outshot Thiel 19-9.
