Redhawks Bounce Back, Take Down Cougars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - After a rough stretch of games, La Roche baseball gave themselves some momentum going into the final three weeks of the season, taking down Chatham, 10-9, on Thursday.

The scoring started immediately in the bottom of the first. With two runners on, Brady Angus delivered the biggest swing of the night, launching a three-run home run to left field to give La Roche a quick 3–0 advantage.

Chatham answered in the third inning, getting on the board with an RBI single, but La Roche responded with its most dominant stretch of the game. In the bottom half, Alex Perez sparked the rally with a two-run triple to right, scoring Samuel DiCicco and Aaron Exler. Angus stayed hot, ripping an RBI double to center before later coming around to score on a wild pitch. DJ Loveland capped the five-run inning with an aggressive steal of home, stretching the lead to 8–1.

Chatham refused to go away. In the fourth, they strung together hits to score three runs, cutting into the deficit. La Roche answered again in the bottom half when Exler drove in a run with a single and later scored on another wild pitch, pushing the lead to 10–4.

La Roche turned to Eli Thomas out of the bullpen, and he provided a key performance, tossing four innings while allowing just two runs (none earned) and striking out five to earn the win.

The ninth inning brought the drama. Chatham rallied for three runs, fueled by timely hits, to pull within one at 10–9. With momentum fully on their side, they threatened to complete the comeback.

But La Roche's defense delivered in the biggest moment.

With runners on, a ground ball was turned into a game-ending double play by Samuel DiCicco at second base, sealing the victory.

Angus led La Roche offensively, finishing with a home run, double, and four RBIs, while Perez added two RBIs and Exler scored three runs. Despite being out-hit 13–9, La Roche capitalized on key moments early and did just enough late to secure the win.
