CRESSON, Pa. - The La Roche University men's basketball team used a strong second-half push to secure a 78–69 road victory over Mount Aloysius College in AMCC play on Wednesday night.
In a game that featured multiple lead changes and steady back-and-forth action early, neither side could create much separation in the opening minutes. The Mounties fed off the home crowd energy, attacking the rim and converting second-chance opportunities to keep pace. La Roche answered with efficient perimeter shooting and balanced scoring, allowing the Redhawks to carry a narrow 38–33 advantage into halftime.
The second half followed a similar script at first, with Mount Aloysius trimming the deficit to a single possession and threatening to swing the momentum. But midway through the period, La Roche began to assert control. A timely three-pointer sparked an 8–0 run, and the Redhawks tightened up defensively, forcing contested shots and limiting clean looks in transition.
As the clock wound under five minutes, La Roche methodically stretched the lead to double digits. Strong ball movement led to high-percentage opportunities, and the Redhawks capitalized at the free-throw line to prevent any late comeback attempt. Mount Aloysius continued to battle inside and on the glass, but could not fully recover from the decisive second-half surge.
Logan Golle led the charge with 20 points on the offensive side, while Cooper Rankin finished with a 14 point and 11 rebound, double-double.
