NEW WILMINGTON, PA -- La Roche headed to Westminster College for the second game of their five game road swing on Wednesday night. Ximo Vicent helped the Redhawks cut into an early deficit but Westminster came away with a 3-1 victory. The Redhawks are now 3-5 on the season and 3-3 against the PAC. Westminster improves to 4-4-1.
Westminster's first two shots resulted in goals in the fifth and eighteenth minutes. The Redhawks defense settled down following the second tally and allowed just one more shot to reach net going into the half.
La Roche responded late in the first half with a goal in the forty-fourth minute. Dante Nicholas found Ximo Vicent on a volley pass and he buried it for his second goal of the season. Play was fairly even in the first half with Wesminster narrowly holding the shot advantage (5-4).
The Redhawks had a quality chance early in the second half and later were called offsides on a scoring opportunity. Westminster's best chance came on a strike that hit the post in the seventy-first minute. La Roche remained within striking distance for a majority of the final frame but an own goal in the eighty-sixth minute ended it.
Vicent came off the bench to score his twelfth career goal. Cameron Sharkins attempted two shots while Kiko Alejandre and Peter Spagnolo had shots that reached net.
La Roche opens conference play this Saturday at D'Youville College.
