Men's Soccer Pulls Out Thrilling 1-0 Victory Over Alma

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's soccer won its second straight game on Friday night, taking down Alma, 1-0, in a thrilling defensive battle.

It was a first half of defensive dominance by both sides, as the opening 45 minutes concluded with the teams sitting at a 0-0 stalemate heading into the half.

Just 5:05 out of the break, the lone goal needed to punctuate the victory came off the foot of Malvin Madzimbamuto, scoring his fourth of the season off an assist by Anthony Valerio.

Shots were limited for both sides on the night, as the Redhawks held the edge at just 8-7, while both teams had four on target.

Maddox Anderson earned the clean sheet, making all four stops in goal he faced, including three in the first half.

The Redhawks get a break until Wednesday, Sept. 12, when they look to make it three straight victories in a matchup against Westminster. Opening kick from the Baierl Athletic Complex is at 4 p.m.
