NORTH BOSTON, NY - Wednesday morning, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced the members of the 2020 Men's All-Conference Team. The team consists of the top 15 finishers at last Sunday's AMCC Championship race at La Roche University.
Three Redhawks made the cut and were given All-Conference honors. Freshman Rene Abdalah (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) was LRU's top runner. Abdalah captured 11th place in the 5K with a time 20:52.38, an average mile time of 6 minutes and 43 seconds.
Senior Tyler Frederick, a Preseason All-American on the men's basketball team, finished 13th overall with a time of 21:55.29 (avg. mile - 7:03). Senior Zachary Bauerle, the 2018 LRU 5K Champion, finished 14th overall with a time of 22:09.65 (avg. mile - 7:07).
Alfred State College sophomore Gavin Bathgate was named the 2020 AMCC Runner of the Year after finishing in first place of the AMCC Men's Cross Country Championship with a time of 18:29.06 in the 5K race. Bathgate's top time comes after he placed 10th at the 2019 championship.
Penn State Behrend freshman Chris Annear earned Newcomer of the Year honors after placing fifth with a time of 19:40.59 in the AMCC Championship. He was the top rookie finisher in the race. Annear, a freshman majoring in industrial and systems engineering from Fredonia, NY, is also a member of the track and field team.
Alfred State head coach Tim Giagios is the 2020 AMCC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year. This marked Giagios first year coaching cross country at Alfred State, as the men's team improved one spot in the standings from a season ago. He also coached Bathgate to Runner of the Year honors.
