McCANDLESS, Pa. - Freshman Rene Abdalah (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) of the La Roche men's cross country team has been named the Athletic department's "Athlete of the Week". Abdalah is the second student-athlete to recieve the award in 2021.

The Wexford native finished 11th overall at last Sunday's AMCC Championship race. The five kilometer race took place on LRU's campus and the property of the Sisters of Divine Providence. Abdalah was the Redhawks top finisher, posting a time of 20:52.38, an average mile time of 6 minutes and 43 seconds. His top-15 finish earned him a spot on the AMCC All-Conference team.

The last time a La Roche runner was named to the AMCC All-Conference team was in 2002.
