McCANDLESS, Pa. - The La Roche University softball team released it's schedule for 2021 Thursday afternoon.The Redhawks are scheduled* to play eight conference doubleheaders and two non-conference doubleheaders over the span of a month from March 27th to April 24th.
Before the 2020 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LRU softball was off to it's best start in a decade. The Redhawks won their first five games and finished with an overall record of 6-1 (.857), the best among all AMCC teams.
La Roche opens their 2021 season on Saturday, March 27th at home with a conference doubleheader vs. Hilbert. The Redhawks continue AMCC play a week later on the road at Pitt.-Bradford (4/3). LRU then returns home to host Pitt.-Greensburg in a non-conference doubleheader (4/8). Two days later, the Redhawks get back to conference play when the Medaille Mavericks come to town (4/10).
Over a six day period in mid-April, LRU will play four straight doubleheaders on the road, at Penn St. Altoona (4/13), at Pitt.-Greensburg (4/15), at Penn St. Behrend (4/17) and at Mt. Aloysius (4/19). The doubleheader vs. Mt Aloysius will be non-conference.
The Redhawks then return home for their final two conference doubleheaders to play Mt. Aloysius (4/21) and Alfred St. (4/24).
AMCC postseason tournament dates and times will be announced closer to the conclusion of the regular season.

*The softball schedule for La Roche University and the entire AMCC will be contingent on following strict COVID-19 protocols and health guidelines. The potential exists for various schedule changes to occur, based on a myriad of coronavirus-related issues. Additionally, weather-related delays, postponements, and cancelations are possibilities throughout the season. All of these changes, should they happen, will be communicated through La Roche's athletics website and social media channels.
