NAPLES, Fla. — The La Roche Redhawks recorded nine hits and battled late, but a big sixth inning from Bethany Bison proved to be the difference in a 9–4 loss. In game two, La Roche exploded for 16 hits and an eight-run fourth inning to power past the Potsdam Bears, 11–7.
GAME ONE: Bethany 9 LRU 4
Despite matching Bethany with nine hits, La Roche was hurt by defensive miscues as six errors contributed to several unearned runs for the Bison.
Bethany jumped out in front during the first inning, capitalizing on defensive errors to score two unearned runs and take a 2–0 lead.
Redhawks pitcher Finley Hohn settled in afterward, limiting further damage through the middle innings while the La Roche offense searched for a breakthrough against Bethany starter Victoria Wehrberger.
Bethany added to its lead in the fifth inning, again benefiting from an error before Caitlin O'Farrell delivered an RBI single to extend the advantage to 4–0.
La Roche responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Anastacia Jacobs scored the Redhawks' first run when Katie Grimm grounded out to bring the deficit to three. Shortly after, Rachel Malatok lined an RBI single to left field to plate Cassidee Fitterer, cutting the score to 4–2.
The Bison broke the game open in the sixth, pushing across five runs. Brooke Markland started the rally with an RBI single before Olivia Kidd added another run-scoring hit. Bethany also capitalized on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to stretch the lead to 9–2.
The Redhawks mounted one final rally in the seventh.
Brooke Murgenovich and Briana Wynn both came around to score when Gabby Sbraccia delivered a two-run single, trimming the deficit to 9–4, but the comeback fell short.

The Redhawks used timely hitting throughout the lineup and a dominant relief performance to secure the victory.
La Roche jumped on the scoreboard early in the first inning.
Gabby Sbraccia delivered an RBI double to left field to plate Klover Haberthier, and Finley Hohn followed with a run-scoring groundout to bring home Maura Wade, giving the Redhawks a 2–0 lead.
La Roche added another run in the third inning when Hohn doubled to left field, scoring Haberthier and extending the advantage to 3–0.
Potsdam answered in the bottom half of the third, stringing together multiple hits to score four runs and briefly take a 4–3 lead.
The Redhawks quickly responded with their biggest offensive frame of the season in the fourth inning, sending runs across in waves.
Haberthier tied the game with an RBI single before Sbraccia drove in two more with a base hit up the middle. Taylor Young added an RBI single, and Ashlee Bair followed with a two-run double.
The rally continued when Katie Grimm lined a two-run single to left-center, capping the eight-run inning and pushing La Roche ahead 11–4.
The Bears attempted to chip away in the sixth inning, scoring three runs to cut the deficit to 11–7, but La Roche's defense held firm.
After starter Taylor Young worked five innings to earn the win, Maura Wade came out of the bullpen and delivered two scoreless innings to close the game and secure the victory.
