REDHAWKS SWEEP D'YOUVILLE, CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH
PITTSBURGH, pa -- On senior day, La Roche College Baseball (21-15, 13-7) swept visiting D'Youville 12-0, 12-1 at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field clinching a playoff berth. The Redhawks used two-run home runs by right fielder George Nahay and designated hitter Dan Novak to drop D'Youville in Game 1. La Roche scored two runs in the first inning and five more in the second on Nahay's home run. They scored an additional two in the fourth inning and three in the sixth including two on Novak's home run. Starting pitcher Adam Sepesy went seven shutout innings allowing only three hits. Novak, Nahay, and shortstop Matt Royle each had three RBIs. First baseman Brett Spagnola went 3 for 3 in the win. The Redhawks continued their barrage of offense in Game 2. They scored runs in the first, second, third, fifth, and sixth innings, including RBI triples by Nahay and Novak. Pitcher Anthony Cirocco started for the Redhawks and threw three innings allowing one run on three hits. Reed Tomlinson came in to relieve Cirocco in the fourth inning and got the win going four scoreless innings. Novak went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and a run scored and center fielder Mitchell Meyers went 1 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. The Redhawks will play an AMCC Quarterfinal Game on Saturday, May 8 at a "To Be Determined" site and date.
