Redhawks Split Double Header With Washington & Jefferson

WASHINGTON, PA – La Roche Baseball (7-3) split a double-header with Washington & Jefferson (1-1) 4-3 (8 innings), 2-1 at Ross Memorial Park.

The Redhawks took an early lead in Game 1 before W&J came back and won in extra innings.

Ed Skoniecnzy led off the game with a hit by pitch and Anthony Girdano followed with a single before George Nahay doubled both home.

The Presidents tied the game in the second inning but La Roche answered with a run in the third inning. Girdano doubled in Skoniecnzy after he led off the inning with a double.

The Presidents tied the game in the sixth inning with a two-out RBI single and won it in the eighth inning after a lead-off RBI triple.

Nahay finished 1 for 4 with 2 RBI and Girdano went 2 for 4 with a RBI and a run scored. Skoniecnzy scored two runs in the loss.

Starting pitcher Cole Lentz threw 5 1/3 innings allowing three runs on three hits while striking out seven. Tim Devine allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief work.

Nahay hit his eleventh career home run and first of the season as the Redhawks downed W&J 2-1 in Game 2.

Nahay finished 1 for 1 with a home run and Ryan Fennell added two hits. Mitchell Meyers went 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Starting pitcher James Connelly threw a complete game for his third win of the season. Connelly allowed one run on three hits while striking out four in seven innings.

La Roche Baseball will host Penn State Beaver on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00PM at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. Penn State Beaver is coming off of a double-header sweep at the hands of The Apprentice School.
