Herb Homers in 11-7 Win Over Grove City

PITTSBURGH, PA – Brian Herb hit his first career home run as the Redhawks (9-3) won their home opener over Grove City (2-5) 11-7.

Grove City took a 5-0 lead in the second inning before La Roche fought back. Herb homered in the third inning and the Redhawks added seven runs in the fourth to take an 8-5 lead. La Roche recorded six consecutive singles in the inning before George Nahay hit a two-run double. The Redhawks added another run in the sixth inning and two in the seventh inning to give them a six run cushion.

Herb went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored and Chester Kirkwood went 3 for 4 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Dustin Lalle went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Starting pitcher Jesse Bauer threw four innings allowing five runs on ten hits while walking two batters.

The Redhawks will play a double header against Penn State Beaver on Saturday, March 19 at 1:00PM at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field.
