PITTSBURGH, PA – George Nahay hit a one out RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to break a 6-6 tie and give the Redhawks (13-3) a 7-6 win over Penn St. Greater Allegheny (9-8) at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. It is La Roche's sixth consecutive win.
The Redhawks took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Nahay led off the inning with a single before being hit home by Mitchell Meyers. Meyers scored two batters later on a passed ball. La Roche added another run in the fifth inning when Anthony Girdano hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Brandon Mosely.
Penn St. Greater Allegheny scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to one, but the Redhawks answered with three in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Sean Lubin and Ed Sconieczny led off with singles before Girdano doubled them both home. Girdano scored two batters later on a Colin Feikles single. Penn St. Greater Allegheny tied the game at 6-6 before Nahay's heroics won it in the bottom of the ninth.
George Nahay went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI and Sean Lubin finished 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Anthony Girdano recorded 3 RBIs in the win.
The Redhawks return to action on Thursday, March 31 at 3:00PM for a single, nine inning game at St. Vincent College.
