PITTSBURGH, PA – The Redhawks (20-4, 9-1) combined to score thirty-five runs in two games as they swept D'Youville College (2-16, 0-10) 25-6, 10-4 in an AMCC Conference game on Sunday at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. The sweep guarantees La Roche a second consecutive winning season.
The Redhawks scored twelve runs in the first inning to take game one 25-6. Brandon Mosely went 5 for 5 with 4 runs batted in and also scored four times. Sean Lubin finished with four hits and also added four RBI and scored three runs. Adam Brydon drove in five runs and Ed Skonieczny scored four times.
Starting pitcher, Cole Lentz (3-0, 3.00), threw four scoreless innings to record the win. He struck out six batters and allowed only five Spartans to reach base. Jeremy Kobert did not allow a run in two innings of relief work.
Four Redhawk pitchers combined to two-hit D'Youville for a 10-0 game two win.
Both of the Spartans' hits came against La Roche starting pitcher Reed Tomlinson (3-0, 2.32). Tomlinson threw four scoreless innings and struck out three batters while allowing only two hits. Ray Snyder, Justin Gorgacz, and Tim Devine combined for three scoreless innings striking out a batter apiece.
The Redhawks will host Penn State Altoona on Tuesday, April 19 for a double-header starting at 1:00PM. The Redhawks and Nittany Lions split a double-header last season in Altoona, PA.
