Redhawks Beat Penn State Behrend After Rain Delay

ERIE, PA – The Redhawks (23-8, 12-4) used a 5-4 win to complete a series sweep of AMCC Conference rival Penn State Behrend (19-10, 11-5).

La Roche and Penn State Behrend were tied 2-2 after four innings on Saturday, April 23 before rained suspended action.

The Redhawks trailed 3-2 in the seventh inning before rallying for three runs. Dustin Lalle led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch and then stole second base. Brian Herb hit home Lalle two batters latter and scored on a pass ball. Sean Lubin scored on a wild pitch for a two run lead.

The Lions answered with a run in the bottom of the seventh but it was not enough as the Redhawks held on.

Cole Lentz threw the games first four innings and allowed two runs (zero earned runs) on two hits.

James Connelly threw the final three innings to record the win. He allowed two runs (one earned run) on five hits and struck out three batters.

George Nahay reached base four times and added a run and RBI. Brian Herb scored twice and Ryan Fennell reached base and recorded an RBI.

The Redhawks will travel to St. Vincent College on Saturday, April 30 at 1:00PM before returning to AMCC Conference play on Sunday against Medaille.
