ASTON, PA – The Redhawks (27-15) beat Penn St. Abington (20-21) 9-1 on Saturday before falling to Penn St. Behrend (28-12) 7-5 on Sunday ending their hopes of winning the ECAC Division III South Baseball Championship.
Starting pitcher, Cole Lentz threw six strong innings against Penn St. Abington to record the win. Lentz settled down after a rocky first inning allowing only one run on four hits while striking out seven batters. Ryan Fennell, Ray Snyder, and Tim Devine combined for three scoreless innings of relief in the win.
Mitchell Meyers went 3 for 4 with a triple, 3 RBI, and a run scored. Senior, Chester Kirkwood recorded two RBI and stole a base and senior Adam Brydon added a hit and an RBI in his final game. Brian Herb reached base three times and scored twice.
The Redhawks held a 5-4 lead after six innings against Penn St. Behrend but could not hold on. Pitcher, Adam Sepesy started and allowed four runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings. James Connelly recorded the loss in three innings of relief work.
