Baseball Adds Former Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher, Josh Sharpless, to Coaching Staff

La Roche men's baseball coach, Chase Rowe, has announced the addition Josh Sharpless as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.

Sharpless comes to La Roche after playing seven years of professional baseball. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the San Francisco Giants, including two seasons at the Major League level with the Pirates.

Sharpless made his major league debut in 2006 and pitched a scoreless inning against the Atlanta Braves. Prior to his debut, he played in the 2006 XM Satellite Futures All-Star Game and helped the Williamsport Crosscutters win the Short-Season Single A Championship.

Sharpless was drafted in the 24th Round of the 2003 MLB Draft after four seasons at Allegheny College (Meadville, PA). He finished his collegiate career ranked in the school's top five in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts and earning All-Conference accolades in 2001 and 2003.
