Fennell Drives in Five Runs as Redhawks Advance in AMCC Tournament

PITTSBURGH, PA – Ryan Fennell drove in 5 runs including two 2-RBI doubles as La Roche Baseball (22-17) cruised to a 12-5 win over Pitt-Bradford (21-19) and advance to the final three in the AMCC Conference Tournament.

Fennell drove a double into the left field gap scoring Shane Healey and Brian Tougher to break up a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the third inning. Dan Burns added a two-run double in the inning and Healey, Casey Zimmerman, Tougher, and Fennell added runs in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. Pitt-Bradford tried to answer with 3 runs in the sixth and 2 runs in the seventh, but La Roche matched the visiting Panthers with 3 runs and 2 runs themselves. The seventh inning was highlighted by Fennell's second 2-RBI double of the game.

Brian Tougher went 3 for 3 with 3 runs, 2 RBI, and was hit twice while Ryan Fennell added 5 RBI, 2 doubles, and 2 runs scored. Shane Healey drew 3 walks and scored three times and Dan Burns had 3 RBI and scored. Sean Lubin recorded a hit to extend his hit-streak to a career-high 10 games.

Cole Lentz registered his first career postseason win after allowing just 3 earned runs in 6 innings while striking out 6. Walt Hadjuk and Ryan Fennell combined for a scoreless 3 innings of relief.

The Redhawks will host Penn State Behrend tomorrow at 10:00AM at John Arnold Sr. Memorial Field. The winner of tomorrow's game will clinch a berth in the championship game while the loser plays Mt. Aloysius tomorrow at 1:00PM.
