Redhawks Comeback Falls Short in Loss to Adrian

MARIETTA, OH – La Roche Baseball (25-19) made a valiant comeback effort with two eighth inning runs but fell to #10 Adrian College (37-9) 3-2 in NCAA Tournament Regional action on Friday. With the loss, the Redhawks finish tied for fifth place in the Mideast Regional.

La Roche starting pitcher Reed Tomlinson gave the Redhawks another great effort holding the Bulldogs to just 3 runs in 6 innings.

La Roche trailed 3-0 and managed just four baserunners before breaking out the bats in the eighth inning. Mitchell Meyers led off the inning with a line drive single to right-center field and advanced on a double to left by Adam Zimmerman. Dustin Lalle hit a slow roller to the third baseman to score Meyers and Shane Healey singled to left field to score Zimmerman. Healey attempted to steal second base but was called out on a very close play to end the threat.

Adam Zimmerman went 2 for 3 with a double and run scored while Shane Healey and Dustin Lalle provided RBI. Mitchell Meyers had a single and scored and Sean Lubin reached base twice.

Reed Tomlinson threw 6 solid innings and allowed just 3 runs (2 earned runs) on nine hits while Walt Hadjuk and Jesse Bauer each threw 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Notes: This year's La Roche Baseball team won their second-ever AMCC Regular Season Title, first AMCC Tournament Title, clinched their first NCAA Tournament berth, won the school's first NCAA Tournament Game, and set a school-record for most All-Conference performers.
