Men's Basketball Beats Pitt-Greensburg in Defensive Battle

GREENSBURG, PA – The Redhawks (17-1, 11-0) managed a 59-47 win at Pitt-Greensburg (6-12, 3-9) despite scoring less than 60 points for only the second time this season. La Roche played stout defense holding the host Bobcats to only 49 points, their lowest point total at Chambers Hall Gym this season.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half but the Redhawks came alive in the second half. The Redhawks went on a 9-1 run and then a 21-5 run to break open the game.

Andre Flanigan led the charge with 9 points in the second half and McIntosh added 8. Laron Mann had two key blocks to spark the runs.

Flanigan finished with a career-high 13 points and Joel McIntosh added 12 points. Mike Dixon finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds in the win.

The Redhawks made 12 of the 14 free throws they took and out-rebounded Pitt-Greensburg by 13. La Roche held the Bobcats to 32% shooting from the field including only 25% from three point range.

The Redhawks will travel to Erie, PA on Saturday, January 29 at 8:00PM for a big AMCC Conference game against second-place Penn State Behrend (15-2, 10-1). The Lions are currently receiving two votes in the nation's top 25 and La Roche three.  Penn State Berhend is coming off of a 70-51 win over Hilbert. You can follow the game here.
