PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Redhawks (19-2, 13-1) overcame a slow start to beat D'Youville College (5-16, 5-9) 64-54 in an AMCC Conference game at the Kerr Fitness Center. The win is their second straight and their eighteenth in the last nineteen games.
La Roche managed only two field goals in the first 8:22 of play but followed it with a 17-4 run. The run was highlighted by a Laron Mann three-pointer to give the Redhawks their first lead of the game.
The contest remained tight throughout and no team lead by more than six points until the final twenty-two seconds. There were nine lead changes and six ties in the game.
Mann led the Redhawks with 17 points and Joel McIntosh finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Mike Dixon recorded his second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
D'Youville's Shane Canahai led all scorers with 22 points and Ricky Coburn added 13 points in the losing effort.
La Roche dominated the glass pulling down forty-four boards to D'Youville's twenty-four. The Redhawks have won the rebounding margin in 18 of 21 games this season.
La Roche Men's Basketball will host Penn State Behrend (18-2, 13-1) on Monday, February 7 at 8:00PM at the Kerr Fitness Center. The Lions are currently receiving Top 25 votes nationally and are coming off of a 67-65 win over Pitt-Greensburg.
