La Roche College has named Harry Jenkins the next head coach of the men's basketball program. Jenkins takes over after serving as the interim head coach last season and as La Roche's top assistant for two prior seasons.
Jenkins was named the interim head coach last season after Scott Lang passed away on December 10, 2010. He guided La Roche to an 18-2 record and their second AMCC Conference Championship. He also led La Roche to their first ever NCAA Tournament selection.
Jenkins comes to La Roche with over three decades of coaching experience. He served as the head basketball coach at Fox Chapel Area High School for twenty-five years and a Fox Chapel assistant for ten years prior. Jenkins also spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the Carnegie Mellon women's basketball team.
"I really appreciate the opportunity to be the head coach of this team. I am truly blessed and honored to work with this group of players and with this coaching staff".
Jenkins staff will include associate head coach, Hermie Carmichael, who served as a La Roche assistant for three seasons. Carmichael is a La Roche graduate and the team's fifth all-time leading scorer.
Assistant coaches Andy Bott and Bob McGraw will also return for their second seasons.
