PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's basketball (8-2) downed Ithaca College (3-7) 80-77 in a thriller on Saturday afternoon to extend their home-win streak to three games.
The visiting Bombers got off to a quick start and led by as many as seven points ten minutes in before La Roche stormed back. Ryan Frantz led the charge with five three-pointers in a nine minute span to spark a fifteen point swing. Mike Dixon finished the half with 11 points and David Jackson dominated the glass with 8 rebounds.
Frantz drained another three-pointer to put the Redhawks up eleven points before Ithaca started to chip away at the lead. The Bombers cut the lead to two points with only seconds left but Dixon hit a foul shot to put the game away.
Frantz posted a game-high 24 points and hit 6 three-pointers and Joel McIntosh added 16 points and 5 rebounds. Dixon scored 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting and added 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Jackson recorded his fifth double-double of the season (10 points, 13 rebounds).
The Redhawks will host Pittsburgh-Area rival Carnegie Mellon on Wednesday, December 21 for a non-conference game at the Kerr Fitness Center. Last season, La Roche defeated the Tartans 75-60.
