LATROBE, PA – Ryan Frantz registered a team-high 18 points and Joel McIntosh netted his first double-double of the season in the Redhawks (1-2) 75-67 loss to St. Vincent (2-1) on Tuesday in an AMCC vs. PAC matchup.
La Roche trailed by as many as 12 points midway through the second half before storming back to take a 62-60 lead with 3:00 minutes left to play. Frantz led the charge with 7 points and freshman Torin Smith converted a big 4-point play. The Bearcats answered with a 3-pointer and went 6 for 6 from the free throw line to hold the lead down the stretch.
Frantz finished with 18 points and went 5 for 10 from behind the arc while Joel McIntosh netted 11 points to go along with 12 boards. David Jackson recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and Andre Flanigan registered a season-high 10 points.
Despite the loss, the visiting Redhawks out-rebound St. Vincent 40-31 including 19-8 on the offensive glass. La Roche also finished with more field goals and 3-pointers made but the Bearcats made 18 of 22 foul shots to preserve the lead.
La Roche men's basketball will return to the Kerr Fitness Center on Saturday at 3:00PM when they host Geneva College. Andre Flanigan finished with 17 points and 11 assists en route to an 84-69 win over the Golden Tornadoes last season.
