PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's basketball (4-2, 2-0) rolled in a 65-42 victory over Penn State Altoona (3-3, 2-1) to win their third straight game and stay atop the AMCC Conference standings.
The Redhawks took a commanding first half lead by running the floor and being very efficient on the offensive end. La Roche shot 54% and held visiting Penn State Altoona to just 27% from the field in the opening half. The Redhawks success continued in the second half by committing just 4 giveaways.
Derek Barber-Richards led La Roche with 11 points on 5 of 7 shooting and Joel McIntosh and Lionel Perkins added 10 points apiece. Torrin Smith drained 3 treys to register a career-high 9 points and Neal McKown and David Jackson contributed 7 points each.
The Redhawks finished with 16 assists and just 9 turnovers while outrebounding Penn State Altoona 39-26. La Roche did a great job forcing the Lions into tough shots and held them to just 32% from the field.
La Roche men's basketball will travel to Medaille on Saturday to take on the defending AMCC Conference Champions. Last season the rivals split a pair of games with each winning on their home floor.
