PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche men's basketball (6-7, 4-2) could not hold an eleven-point halftime lead on their home floor in a 73-71 loss to Hilbert College (10-3, 4-2) on Sunday. The loss is their first at the Fitness Center this season and just the third in their past twenty games.
The Redhawks shot 50% from the field (14 of 28) and assisted on 10 of 14 field goals to build a 39-28 halftime lead. Derek Barber-Richards had an outstanding first half with 15 points and 4 rebounds and Joel McIntosh and David Jackson combined for 11 boards. La Roche led by as many as twelve points in the second half but the visiting Hawks outscored the Redhawks by 14 points over the final 15 minutes to take the win.
Lionel Perkins scored a team-high 18 points including 4 three-pointers. Derek Barber-Richards finished with 15 points on 6 of 8 from the field and grabbed 5 boards. David Jackson netted 9 points and had a strong game on the glass with 12 rebounds and Joel McIntosh added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
La Roche will look to rebound from their loss when they travel to Franciscan University on Wednesday at 8:00PM. Joe Dice scored a career-high 15 points in last year's 85-47 home win over the Barons.
