Redhawks Comeback Falls Short in ECAC Semifinal Loss to Albright

READING, PA – La Roche men's basketball (17-10, 14-4) fell to Albright College (22-6) 82-71 in an ECAC Tournament Semifinal on Saturday. Albright will face Juniata College tomorrow at 2:00PM in the championship game.

La Roche trailed 44-31 at halftime and by as many as 17 points in the second half before storming back. The Redhawks went on a 34-18 run over the next fifteen minutes to cut the deficit to just one. Andre Flanigan and Joel McIntosh led the charge with 10 and 9 points respectively over that stretch and McIntosh and Jean Freeman each converted three-point plays.

The host Lions responded with a 7-0 run after La Roche made it a 68-67 game. Albright hit 13 of 14 second half free throws and went 10 for 10 in the final 2:28 to end it.

Joel McIntosh registered a team-high 15 points and grabbed 9 boards. His 15 points gives him 1034 career points and moves him into 11th place on the school's all-time scoring list.

Andre Flanigan scored 14 points on 6 of 11 from the field and Lionel Perkins added 13 points. Derek Barber-Richards netted 11 points and David Jackson recorded 7 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

The Redhawks outscored Albright off turnovers (20-13), in the paint (38-36), and on 2nd chance points (15-7), but the Lions shot 42% from behind the arc and made 19 of 22 free throws.

Despite the loss, La Roche men's basketball enjoyed a fantastic season. They won their second AMCC Conference Regular Season Championship and reached the ECAC Tournament Semifinals for the second straight season.
