Sean Doyle Hired as Lacrosse Assistant Coach

Pittsburgh, PA. – La Roche College head men's lacrosse coach, Anthony Stamatopoulos, is pleased to announce the hiring of All-ECAC performer Sean Doyle (Rochester, NY.) as the first assistant men's lacrosse coach.

"I'm very pleased and excited to have Sean join our staff. I have no hesitation in saying that he will bring a lot of passion and energy to our program. Sean has proven himself to be a major contributor to La Roche College men's lacrosse family in the short time he has been part of our organization".

Stamatopoulos added, "As a relatively recent graduate and one of the most highly decorated players in Bellarmine University's history, I knew he would bring a unique perspective to the program. Doyle played under one of the most respected coaches in the game (Coach Jack McGetrick) and played for a man that I admired very much. I recognized that Sean was a diligent worker and his background gave him a firm grasp in understanding what it takes to compete at the highest levels of DIII college lacrosse."

Doyle is coming off an illustrious lacrosse career which ended at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. Under Coach McGetrick, Doyle led the team in scoring both his junior and senior years. He earned All-ECAC Player of the Week honors and was voted to All-ECAC Second Team. He finished as one of the programs best players amassing 84 points (64 goals, 16 assists) in 2 years. Doyle was a stoudt defensive player as well forcing 50 turnovers.

Prior to his time at Bellarmine, Doyle played at Herkimer Community College. He was voted to the All-Tournament Team two straight years and was named to the All-America Second Team his sophomore season.

"Coaching college lacrosse is something I've always wanted to do and La Roche College provides the perfect opportunity for me to pursue my dream. The last two years of my life really cemented this career path, especially while watching what coach McGetrick went through. It was amazing to see how many people he impacted in a positive way. Those experiences not only inspired me to coach but it motivated me to make this dream a reality".

"It's been great not only getting the opportunity to coach at La Roche College but being a part of a school and program that is doing things the right way. I'm really looking forward to this challenge and would like to thank Coach Stamatopoulos for giving me this opportunity".

Note: This release comes at a tough time for coach Doyle. His coach at Bellarmine, Jack McGetrick passed away Saturday, Oct 9th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. On behalf of La Roche College Men's Lacrosse Program, we would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Coach McGetrick's family and friends during this time.
