Lacrosse Names Matt Hamill, TJ Leo, and Mitchell Banister Captains

Pittsburgh, PA – La Roche College men's lacrosse head coach, Anthony Stamatopoulos, announced that twenty-two members will make up the class of 2014. "We are very proud of this inaugural class. This is a class full of high character leaders and we think we put together the best initial group possible." While this class is young, it contains a few key transfers, sixteen multi-sport athletes, and seventeen players that captained their high school or junior teams for at least one year. This helps to bring some immediate leadership and maturity to the Redhawks.

"We are extremely pleased that the team has taken it upon themselves to build something special here at La Roche College. They have approached the student-athlete concept in a diligent manner and we are confident that we will have a tremendous impact."

Coach Stamatopoulos announced that Matthew Hamill, Thomas (TJ) Leo, and Mitchell Banister have been selected as captains to lead the program during the 2011 season. "To have the opportunity and responsibility to be captains at this time in our program's history is such a huge deal. It is great to see the team elect the same three guys that the coaching staff selected. This helped to reinforce our team's decision-making abilities and provided the captains with some extra momentum right out of the gate. Each of them brings different leadership styles to the table which is a bonus for our family. These three young men lead by example and have our full confidence".
