WOOSTER, OH – The Redhawks had a strong second half but La Roche men's lacrosse (1-5) fell to Oberlin College (4-2) 15-8 on Wednesday night.
Dustin Reykdal put the Redhawks on the board at the 13:26 mark of the second quarter and Crawford Healey found the back of the net 12 minutes later. La Roche outscored the host Yeomen and outshot them 35-15 in the second half. They recorded 7 more second half ground balls and forced 17 turnovers.
Reykdal followed his 14 point and 6 goal output against Franciscan with 4 goals and an assist. He attempted a game-high 13 shots including 7 shots on goal. Bryce Wells took 10 shots and scored twice and Healey tallied his 10th goal of the season. Jean Thouin contributed a goal and an assist and went 16-10 in the face off circle and Jon Monahan and Nathaniel Marsh added assists.
Marsh, Dom Sacco, and Mike Merchent forced 2 turnovers each to lead the Redhawks' on defense. Thouin grabbed 16 ground balls and Reykdal added 7 ground balls. Healey finished with 4 ground balls and Wells, Sacco, Eugene LaBorde and TJ Kretzler registered 3 ground balls apiece. LaBorde made 21 stops in the loss.
La Roche attempted 47 shots including 24 shots on goal. They also picked up 51 ground balls, converted 18 of 27 clears, and forced 29 turnovers.
The Redhawks return to action on Saturday at 1:00PM when they host Lebanon Valley College. The Dutchmen (4-2) are coming off an 18-4 win over Fairleigh Dickenson-Florham.
