Redhawks Lacrosse Drops 17-12 Game to Thiel
PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche Lacrosse (1-7) fell to Thiel College (6-4) 17-12 to end a two game win-streak against their Pittsburgh-Area rivals.
Thiel netted the first two goals of the contest before Dustin Reykdal shot home a feed from Bryce Wells to cut the deficit to just one. The visiting Tomcats answered with three straight goals but Wells and James McKee found the back of the net to make it a 5-3.
Thiel followed with six unanswered goals however La Roche outscored the Tomcats 9-6 over the final thirty-two minutes of the game.
Reykdal led La Roche with 3 goals and 3 assists and Wells added 2 goals and an assist. Jean Thouin and Crawford Healey netted 2 goals apiece and Mike DiMarco and Dom Deltando each scored one. TJ Kretzler finished with an assist and McKee notched his first career goal.
Thouin won 14 of 27 faceoffs and paced the Redhawks with 13 ground balls. Goalkeeper Eugene LaBorde scooped up 6 ground balls and Wells, Healey, Sean Clark, Dom Sacco, and Braden Sparks each picked up 3. Nate Marsh forced 3 turnovers and LaBorde made 17 stops.
La Roche finished with 52 shots including 31 shots that reached goal. They also picked up 49 ground balls and converted 32 of 37 clears.
La Roche Lacrosse will return to the field on Thursday when they travel to Medaille College. Last season, the Redhawks fell to Medaille 16-9 on the La Roche Campus.
