Healey's Double OT Winner Lifts Redhawks to Comeback Win

PITTSBURGH, PA – Crawford Healey ripped a shot into the back of the net with less than a second left in double overtime to give the Redhawks (2-9) a 16-15 (2 OT) comeback win over Mt. Union (6-7) on Senior Day.

The Redhawks trailed by as many as five goals and 15-11 with 1:57 left in the third quarter before roaring back.

Bryce Wells sparked the rally with a goal late in the third quarter and Braden Sparks and Crawford Healey added goals to cut the deficit to one.

La Roche had attempts to tie it up including shots by Reykdal and Healey, and one by Jean Thouin that ricochet off the post before Reykdal put home a feed from Jon Monahan to send the game to overtime.

The Redhawks dominated the overtime period outshooting Mt. Union 10-2 and holding a majority of the possessions. Mt. Union's goalkeeper Colin Peters made terrific save after terrific save until Healey ripped the game winner past him late in the second overtime.

Reykdal led La Roche with 6 points and 4 assists. His 10-point performance gives him 57 on the season, breaking his record of 50 that he set last year.

Healey netted 4 goals and added an assist and Wells registered 2 goals and 2 assists. Thouin set up 3 goals and Mike DiMarco connected on a goal and an assist. Sparks tallied his first career goal and senior Sean Clark contributed a goal on senior day. Steve Murphy finished with a goal and Monahan added an assist in the win.

Thouin led La Roche with a career-high 20 ground balls to break the school-record for most ground balls in a season. Healey picked up 9 ground balls and Nathaniel Marsh added 7. Thouin, Healey, and Marsh also forced 3 turnovers each.

La Roche posted season-highs in shots (65), shots on goals (34), ground balls (65), caused turnovers (15) and faceoff wins (24). They outshot Mt. Union by thirty and picked up seventeen more groundballs. The Redhawks also won 24 of 35 face-offs.

La Roche Lacrosse will travel to Otterbein on Saturday before their season finale at St. Vincent on Monday. Last season, the Redhawks fell to Otterbein 20-8.
